All About Dr. Colven
Education
Dr. Preston Colven is passionate about providing dental care that eases your child’s mind and keeps them excited to pursue their oral hygiene! Dr. Colven was originally a North Carolina native, earning his undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill and then pursuing his Doctor of Dental Sciences degree at the same university, graduating in 2017. After eight years of school in North Carolina, he moved to Ohio to complete his Pediatric Dental Residency at Ohio State University with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He maintains a variety of licenses and certifications in order to improve patient care including BIOLASE and Waterlase laser certifications, level 2 oral sedation, PALS, BLS CPR, pediatric sedation, nitrous oxide, and, NuSmile Zirconia crowns. He has also won the award of Dallas’s Best Dentist in 2021, 2022, and 2025!
Outside of the Office
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Colven can be found exploring local places in Dallas, likely with his trusty sidekick, his golden retriever Moira, and his spouse! He also frequents Dallas restaurant The Charles, as he loves their non-traditional take on delicious Italian food! He also is an avid outdoorsman, hiking the Katy Trail or spending time with his friends playing tennis!
Professional Associations
As an active and contributing member in the world of dental advancements, Dr. Colven is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Dallas Pediatric Dental Society, and the Dallas County Dental Society. In order to increase his training, he is also pursuing active board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
